Generation Vet was born from a simple question: what happens when we stop telling each other how to behave across generations, and start getting genuinely curious about where we each came from?
We are not here to pitch one generation against another. We are here to find the threads that connect us, understand where the differences come from, and have honest conversations about the profession as it actually is - not just as we were told it would be.
Every episode, a guest from somewhere across the generational span of veterinary life tells their story: growing up, getting in, the gap between what they expected and what they found. Then we go big: leadership, mentorship, practice ownership, corporatisation, burnout - what is changing, and what stubbornly is not.
Nobody here speaks for their generation. Everyone speaks from their own experience. That's the point.

Veterinary surgeon, keynote speaker, and co-founder of Vet Empowered. Katie has spent a decade opening honest conversations in the profession, and has heard one refrain from every corner of it: “they just don't get it.” This podcast is her way of finding out whether that's actually true.

Quite literally raised in a vet clinic by a Boomer clinic owner and Gen X veterinary nurses - JJ went through vet school during COVID, qualified in 2024, and was named a 30 Under 30 rising voice in the profession. She brings the questions the newest generation is actually asking, and a healthy scepticism about the way things have “always been done”.
Between us: some shared frame of reference, a lot of shared curiosity. It makes for good listening.
